A few days ago, in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, the Forescout team hosted information technology (IT) and operational technology (OT) cybersecurity professionals at an exclusive event dedicated to empowering critical infrastructure organizations to secure their assets in a converged IT/OT world. This dynamic event brought together top cybersecurity teams from the Benelux region.
The growing number and diversity of IT and OT devices connected to corporate networks requires fresh thinking. Nowadays, industrial networks range from modern Internet of Things (IoT) technologies to Windows systems embedded into vendor-proprietary supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) equipment and from legacy controllers to advanced programmable logic controllers (PLCs). This complex IT/OT infrastructure requires an innovative integrated approach to achieve a solid security posture while meeting the growing regulatory pressures of requirements such as the NIS Directive and the preservation of system uptime.
This invite-only conference assessed the challenges faced by today’s critical asset owners, evaluated the benefits and pitfalls of current and emerging security models in use and reviewed best practices to implement to help build a more cyber secure society.
Themes covered during the event included:
Rethinking overall cybersecurity strategy
How international collaboration and information sharing improves the cyber resilience of critical assets and infrastructure
Protecting critical assets with enhanced segmentation techniques
How advanced industrial control system (ICS) visibility allows organizations to embrace the digitalization opportunity
During the program, participants had the opportunity to assess their current and proposed cybersecurity strategies by building, testing and scaling their ideas while also exploring potential collaborations with Forescout to achieve these strategies. In addition to benefiting from Forescout’s expertise in the professional IT and OT domains, the selected audience gained access to knowledge in the company’s innovation ecosystem comprised of hospitals, industry experts and partners.
